No suitable helper was found for Adam so that’s why in Genesis 2:21-24.
The Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept. Then He took one of his ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man, He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
Then Adam said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she will be called Woman, for she was taken out of Man.”
Therefore, a man will leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and they will become one flesh. M309
Why was the woman created by the Lord God?
The answer to that can be found in Genesis 2:18.
Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make him a helper suitable for him.” M310
Was the woman created because it was not good for man to be alone, or because man needed a suitable helper?
Because it wasn’t good, that man should be alone.
What was not good about being alone?
The answer to that can be found when we understand the meaning of the word alone as defined by Merriam-Webster.
- without anyone or anything else
- without people that you know or that usually are with you
- feeling unhappy because of being separated from other people
- exclusive of anyone or anything else
- considered without reference to any other MW52
When the Lord God created man from the dust of the ground. He was without anyone else, he was without other people, he could become unhappy because of being separate from the others. He was exclusive at the time, the only thing created from the ground by the Lord God, there was nothing else that was similar to him that was created from the dust of the ground.
From everything that the Lord God created from the ground no suitable helper was found.
Then in Genesis 2:21-22 the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept. Then He took one of his ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man, He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. M311
What’s important to highlight is that the woman was not made from the dust of the ground, but was made from the rib (bone) and flesh of Adam.
This is why in Genesis 2:23 Adam said,
“This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she will be called Woman, for she was taken out of Man.” M312
She was taken out of man!
For her to be taken out of man, she had to exist inside of him.
FOR HER TO BE TAKEN OUT OF MAN, SHE HAD TO EXIST INSIDE OF HIM
For us to understand the statement that is being made we need to unlock it with a key that had been hiding in plain sight. By understanding the key, we can unlock the truth that has always been there.
The key is in Genesis 2:24.
Therefore, a man will leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and they will become one flesh. M313
We need to take note of not only what was said, but also what was not said. What I find amazing is how we can read things for years but unless it’s time for the truth to be revealed it will stay hidden in plain sight for centuries, hidden by God ordained for the appropriate time.
This reminds again of the words in 1 Corinthians 2:6-16
Yet we speak wisdom among those who are mature, although not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age knew it. For had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
But God has revealed them to us by His Spirit.
For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man, except the spirit of man which is in him? Likewise, no one knows the things of God, except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit, which is of God, so that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God. These things also we proclaim, not in the words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things. Yet he himself is not judged by anyone. For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?”
But we have the mind of Christ. M314
This wisdom is for the mature, for those that have received the Spirit, which is of God, so that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God. Things that are not in the words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. For these things are foolishness to the natural man, he cannot understand them for they are spiritually discerned.
With spiritual discernment, we can see that which the natural man may not notice but for the spiritual, are keys to understanding the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages.
Let us now look at Genesis 2:21-25 so we can easily identify the keys.
So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept.
They were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. M315
The woman was bone from Adams bone and flesh from Adams flesh. He did not leave his father and his mother to be joined to his wife and become one flesh.
What we need to focus on is that the scripture says, that they will become one flesh. A man, not Adam will leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
Why is that important?
Because the wife that man will join with to become one flesh, will not be bone of his bones or flesh from his flesh.
Two will become one. Why is that the case?
Because the woman was taken out of man.
This would mean that prior to being taken out of man the woman and the man were one. They were not separated.
The Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground. Likewise, He could have formed the female version of man from the dust of the ground, but He didn’t.
How was the female version of man created from man?
This is where I think science provides some insight.
In WHO Gender and Genetics, it states that.
Humans are born with 46 chromosomes in 23 pairs. The X and Y chromosomes determine if a person is a male or female. Most women have 46 XX, and most men have 46 XY. OR4
This is very interesting because it is the Y that determines if the person is a male. The absence of a Y would result in a female person.
Females have two of the same kind of sex chromosome (XX), and are called the homogametic sex. Males have two distinct sex chromosomes (XY), and are called the heterogametic sex. OR5
Forgive the biology lesson but I think we need to understand a bit of biology before we truly understand scripture.
What is a homogametic sex?
In Merriam-Webster, the word homogametic is defined as:
- forming gametes which all have the same type of sex chromosome MW53
Isn’t science wonderful? To understand the meaning of one word we need to understand the meaning of another, then maybe we can understand the meaning of the first word.
Let’s look up the meaning of the word gametes in Merriam-Webster.
- one of the cells that join together to begin making a person or other creature MW54
If a gamete is one of the cells that join together to begin making a person, then a homogametic is when both cells (gametes) which join together to begin making a person are of the same type of sex (gender) chromosome.
So if a woman has two of the same kind of sex chromosome (XX), and are called the homogametic sex, then a woman cannot produce a male child because she would not have the Y chromosome necessary to create a male child.
A man, on the other hand, has two distinct sex chromosomes (XY) and are called the heterogametic sex.
A heterogametic is defined in Merriam-Webster as:
- forming two kinds of gametes of which one produces male offspring and the other female offspring MW55
From this, it appears that a heterogametic can produce either a male or a female, because of the ability to produce two kinds of gametes (cells) that can join together to begin making a person.
Now that we understand this we need to go just a little bit deeper to actually understand how we get a man (male) and woman (female) as we understand today.
The University of Utah Health Sciences published a genetics article explaining chromosomes and gametes which bring these two subjects together in a comprehensible way.
Sex chromosomes determine whether an individual is male or female. For humans, the sex chromosomes which determine gender are X and Y.
- Females have two X chromosomes (XX)
- Males have one X and one Y chromosome (XY)
A woman has two X chromosomes which would mean they have an X from their mother and an X from their father. And since both of the X chromosomes have the same physical gene (gender) characteristics the net result is a female body.
X (Mother) + X (Father) = XX (Daughter)
X (Female) + X (Female) = XX (Female & Female)
XX = (Daughter / Female / Woman)
A man, on the other hand, has one X and one Y chromosome since these two chromosomes have different physical gene characteristics the Y chromosome take precedence.
X (Mother) + Y (Father) = XY (Son)
X (Female) + Y (Male) = XY (Female & Male)
XY = (Son / Male & Female / Man)
It’s important to note that the history behind selecting the letters is unknown. Some suggest that X was chosen as the first letter based on the first discovery and Y the letter that followed alphabetically for the second.
For those that want to know the order of creation from a Biblical perspective, it would be Male and Female YX as recorded in Genesis 1:27
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. M316
God created man (YX) in His own image (Y); in the image of God He created him (YX); male (Y) and female (X) He created them.
What’s interesting about X and Y chromosomes are the following:
- A woman would get an X chromosome from each parent, one X from the mother and one X from the father.
- A man would get an X chromosome from the mother and a Y chromosome from the father.
- A mother would pass her X chromosome to her son (XY) (X Mother + Y Father) since the father passes the Y chromosome needed for a son, the son does not get the X from the father.
- A father passes his X chromosome to the daughter (XX) (X Mother + X Father) because the daughter needs both X chromosomes. OR6
Now that we have this base knowledge of male and female we need to understand another part of science called stem cells and bone marrow.
Stems cells are amazing because a stem cell has the ability to develop into any cell in the human body. A stem cell can become a bone, muscle, skin, heart, brain, kidney, liver, just to name a few. OR7
Here’s where it gets Interesting. Stem cells can be obtained from bone marrow. What’s interesting about this, is the fact that the type of bone marrow required to obtain these stem cells is often found in flat bones, such as the pelvis, sternum, cranium, ribs, vertebrae and scapulae. OR8
It appears Adam underwent a bone marrow transplant in order to create a woman.
Francesco Callea from the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Children’s Hospital Bambino Gesù, Vatican City, Italy; also found this interesting. He found it striking and likened Adam going into a deep sleep similar to that of a person being under anesthesia. Anesthesia would be something a person would be under during a surgical procedure to transplant bone marrow. OR9
This helps explains why in Genesis 2:21-23, the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept. Then He took one of his ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man, He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
Then Adam said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she will be called Woman, for she was taken out of Man.”M317
Francesco Callea also mentioned something else that I found very interesting, “Also striking, is that the two events—the origin of man and of woman—are not comparable. Adam’s origin is not discussed at present, as nowadays, it seems to belong to the sphere of divinity and as such is inaccessible to scientific knowledge, whereas woman’s origin is a suitable subject for science.” OR10
We have to pay very careful attention to the words used in scripture as it is different from how we use it.
For example, we use male to describe a man and female to describe a woman. Scientifically a man has both male and female chromosomes, the presence of male chromosomes is what creates physical characteristics that we associate to a man. Yet, a man is both male and female.
A woman, on the other hand, has two copies of female chromosomes, and it is the presence of the second female chromosome which creates physical characteristics that we associate with a woman.
A woman is only a woman because as scripture states in Genesis 2:23, she will be called Woman, for she was taken out of Man. M318
We have to remember what the Lord God did in Genesis 2:22. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man, He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. M319
The Lord God did not take out of Adam the Y chromosome that had the physical characteristics of a male, but took the X chromosome. The X chromosome had what is needed to create a person, and the X chromosome also created the female characteristics.
All she need to have is just the X chromosome to become a female, the X chromosome without the Y chromosome is what determines the female characteristics.
With this knowledge, we can now understand why this was said in Genesis 2:23
Then Adam said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she will be called Woman, for she was taken out of Man.”M320
Adam said, “This is now bone of my bones (bone marrow) and flesh of my flesh (bone marrow); she will be called Woman (X), for she was taken out of Man (XY).”
We need to understand something which God said. He said, He created him (man); male and female He created them.
In the first book I talked about how when God created man, he was created in the heavens. I’m going to expand on that a little bit more here.
When man was created in the heavens in the image of God, he was created in the image of man with full chromosomes of both the X (female) and the Y (male).
When the female was taken out of man on earth there was a separation between male and female, but in the beginning, when God created him male and female; female (woman) was not taken out of him. There was no separation in heaven and in the beginning on earth.
THERE WAS NO SEPARATION IN HEAVEN AND IN THE BEGINNING ON EARTH
The man that God created was one with the other. Male and female He created them, He created them as one.
Now we can begin to understand what is being said in Galatians 3:28.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, and there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. M321
To understand what is being said in Genesis 1:27 some form of visualization may help.
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. M322
Now I’m going to take this a step further and explain it in more detail.
Now let us look at what Jesus did in Genesis 2:21-22
So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept.
Then He took one of his ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man, He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. M323
Now we also need to pay very close attention to what Adam, said because he explained it in a way that explains why she was called woman. But we need to understand this, from how the Bible explains it and not how we have come to understand male and female.
I’m going to try my best to explain this in a sequential order.
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. M324
In heaven God created three creations in one; a man in His own image, a male creation, and a female creation. He created them male, female and man.
Later on earth in Genesis 2:7
Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being. M325
If we pay attention to what is said, we can see that the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground, but man was not a living being at the moment it was being formed. What is actually being told to us is the origins of man on earth.
The origins of forming of man on earth is from the dust of the ground. The Lord God made a body for man from the dust of the ground. It was after the breath of life did man become a living being.
Now this is what Adam said in Genesis 2:23
“This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she will be called Woman, for she was taken out of Man.” M326
To understand what Adam said we need to walk through what happened.
So, what we have first is Man
Then in Genesis 2:18, the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make him a helper suitable for him.”M327
Therefore, in Genesis 2:24, a man will leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and they will become one flesh. M328
To understand what was being said, we need to first understand the process.
Second, we need to combine our knowledge of chromosomes.
So that we can understand Genesis 1:27 visually. So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. M329
What’s also important to realize is that the woman was not formed from the dust of the ground, but from the rib of man. She did not receive the breath of life and become a living being, because she was already alive in man; two livings beings in one body, one flesh.
TWO LIVINGS BEINGS IN ONE BODY, ONE FLESH
This is the great mystery that Paul was explaining in Ephesians 5:30-32.
For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. “For this reason, a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.” This is a great mystery, but I am speaking about Christ and the church. M330
The mystery of how two are joined as one flesh.
Paul was not the only one who spoke about this, we see something similar mentioned in Ezekiel 10:9-14
Then I looked, and there were the four wheels by the cherubim, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub. And the appearance of the wheels was as the color of a beryl stone. As for their appearances, all four had one likeness, as if one wheel had been in the middle of a wheel. When they went, they went on their four sides. They did not turn as they went, but they followed to the place wherever the head looked. They did not turn as they went. Their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels that the four had were full of eyes all round. As for the wheels, they were called in my hearing the whirling wheels. Each one had four faces. The first face was the face of a cherub, the second face was the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. M331
Understanding male and female is very confusing, to say the least, and although we can understand how a woman is a female, what we can’t understand is how a man can be both a male and a female.
Part of that confusion comes from the fact that we think that when she was taken out of man, all of her was taken out of man. That is our misunderstanding, only she was taken out. She was taken out and made from a rib of Adam. So the X chromosome was taken out of one rib to create the body for Her. Adam still had the X (female) chromosome.
Did Jesus not clear this misunderstanding for us in Matthew 19:4-6; when he answered?
“Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no man put asunder.” M332
In Merriam-Webster the meaning of the word asunder is:
- into parts
- apart from each other in position MW56
Therefore, what God has joined together, let no man put into parts (male and female) or apart from each other in position.
What is the position that each have?
We are taught that everyone is equal, but the truth is that we are not equal. We are similar regarding physical characteristics, genetics, chromosomes and much more.
When compared to each other we are not equal, two men are not equal to each other, nor are two women equal to each other.
Two men can be similar to each other in physical characteristics, genetics, chromosomes and other factors but cannot be equal. They are similar but different, they cannot be equal.
Likewise, two women can be similar to each other in physical characteristics, genetics, chromosomes and other factors but cannot be equal. They are similar but different, they cannot be equal.
Even twins can be identical in appearance and other factors, but each will have their own personality; each one will be unique.
Our disagreement stems from a lack of understanding, a lack of knowledge. This is why it says in Hosea 4:6.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Because you have rejected knowledge, I will reject you from being My priest.
And because you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children. M333
Lack of knowledge of not understanding the meaning of the words in relation to scripture will lead to destruction.
In Merriam-Webster the meaning of the word same is:
- not different
- exactly like someone or something else
- not changed
- resembling in every relevant respect
- conforming in every respect
- being one without addition, change, or discontinuance
- equal in size, shape, value, or importance MW57
Man and woman, male and female can only be the same or equal to each other when they are not different, when they are exactly like the other person, not changed, when they resemble each other in every relevant respect and conform in every respect. They are the same when they are without addition, change, equal in size and shape.
Clearly man and woman are not the same in any of those regards. Man and woman are the same when it comes to importance. For they are both equally important to God for they are one; one flesh.
Now let’s understand the meaning of the word equal as defined in Merriam-Webster.
- the same in number, amount, degree, rank, or quality
- not changing
- capable of meeting the requirements of a situation or a task MW58
With regards to equal man and women as defined in the Bible are not equal nor are all men equal to each other, nor are all women equal to each other. For not everyone is equal in degree or rank, nor are all equal and capable of meeting the requirements of a situation or a task.
In Ephesians 4:11-12 it reminds us that, He gave some to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, for the equipping of the saints, for the work of service, and for the building up of the body of Christ. M334
How can we be the same or equal if the even the gifts of the Spirt are divided amongst us all?
Does it not say this in 1 Corinthians 12:1-11?
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however, you were led. Therefore, I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed!” And no one can say, “Jesus is the Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
There are various gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. There are various operations, but it is the same God who operates all of them in all people.
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to everyone for the common good. To one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom, to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. But that one and very same Spirit works all these, dividing to each one individually as He will. M335
The reason we are not equal or the same is not because one is better than the other. But because it through the understanding that each one is given something the other has not been given we can remain humble. The Spirit works to keep us humble, as none is greater than the other, but with love for each other, we can appreciate that together we can work for the common good. For this is, what is said in Ephesians 4:1-6.
I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, exhort you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you were called. With all humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another in love, be eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, even as you were called in one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. M336
We are united because each one of us is different. We need to understand that we are not equal, or the same and that is by design. God has designed it this way because we are one with Jesus, one body, but each a different part of the same body. This is what the words in 1 Corinthians 12:12-31 are trying to teach us.
For as the body is one and has many parts, and all the many parts of that one body are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we are all baptized into one body, whether we are Jews or Gentiles, whether we are slaves or free, and we have all been made to drink of one Spirit. The body is not one part, but many.
If the foot says, “Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear says, “Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? But now God has established the parts, every one of them, in the body as it has pleased Him. If they were all one part, where would the body be? So there are many parts, yet one body.
The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” No, those parts of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. And those parts of the body which we think are less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor. And our less respectable parts are treated with much more respect, whereas our more respectable parts have no need of this. But God has composed the body, having given more abundant honor to that part which lacks it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that the parts should have the same care for one another. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts rejoice with it.
Now you are the body of Christ and members individually. God has put these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, and various tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have the gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly covet the greater gifts.
Yet I show you a more excellent way. M337
The way of love! This is the path Jesus Christ took, for He Himself did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but took the form of a servant. We learn about this in Philippians 2:1-11
If there is any encouragement in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any compassion and mercy, then fulfill my joy and be like-minded, having the same love, being in unity with one mind. Let nothing be done out of strife or conceit, but in humility let each esteem the other better than himself. Let each of you look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Let this mind be in you all, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped.
But He emptied Himself, taking upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.
And being found in the form of a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross.
Therefore, God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. M338
Let us understand where the desire for equality comes from. The desire to be equal amongst each other.
For it equality does not exist, it is not something we can grasp, it is the fabrication and desire of the enemy and that enemy is Lucifer. For the desire of Lucifer in his heart is to be equal with God; to be like the Most High. We see that in Isaiah 14:12-15.
How are you fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground, you who weaken the nations!
For you have said in your heart, “I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will sit also on the mount of the congregation, in the recesses of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.”
Yet you shall be brought down to Hell, to the sides of the pit.M339
Yes, it is the works of Lucifer that want’s all to be equal, to be like God. For it is when everyone wants to be the eye, then the body does not have all the parts to function.
When every member of the body of Christ says that they are all equal, that all of them is the same; they then no longer form and function as one body.
They are now all equal and similar parts that need a body. They are all extras parts and without a body, without a purpose.
They become spare parts. Parts that will only be required when one of the other parts fail or is no longer part of the body.
We have to remember that we are all different. We are different by design; we are made as individuals; an induvial part of the body of Christ. For was the woman made from the entire body of Adam?
No, she was made from one of his ribs. Of all the bones in the body that Jesus the Lord God could have used, He chose to use the rib. To me, that’s very interesting, because the rib symbolizes the body of Christ, His Church, Israel, the house of Israel and the house of Judah. Let me explain.
There is a reason for understanding the body, for, in it, Christ reveals hidden meanings to understand scripture.
When we look at the all the ribs that make up what is called the rib cage, we learn that it is made up of 12 paired rib bones. Each one of these bones is symmetrically paired one on the right side of the body and the other on the and left side of the body.
This is where it gets very interesting. There are 12 pairs of ribs. The first seven pairs are often called true ribs or fixed ribs, because of the way these bones are connected to the front rib cage and the spine.
The other five pairs are called false ribs because they do not connect directly to the front rib cage.
Three of these five pairs of false rib are connected to the last true rib on each side which connects to the front rib cage called the sternum.
The last two pairs of the five false ribs are called the floating ribs because they are not connected to the front of the rib cage. They are only connected to the spine and appear to float. Hence the name floating ribs. OR11, OR12, OR13
To me when I heard that about the seven pairs of ribs that were considered true, it reminded me of what Jesus said in Revelation 1:19-20; where the seven churches are spoken about and how each one of them is a candlestick just like each rib.
“Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this. The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven candlesticks which you saw are the seven churches. M340
Now when I read that three from the last five of the ribs were considered false ribs because of they did not connect to the front rib cage directly but to the last rib. It reminded me of how the Gentiles are grafted into the olive tree and how each one is a branch just like how each rib represents a branch in Romans 11:17-21.
But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among them and became a partaker with them of the root and richness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. If you boast, remember you do not sustain the root, but the root sustains you. You will say then, “The branches were broken off, so that I might be grafted in.” This is correct. They were broken off because of unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will He spare you.M341
Now the last two ribs that are considered floating ribs. Reminds me of two things the first is the next part of Romans 11:22-24 where the branches that are cut off due to disbelief can be grafted back and just floating for now due to disbelief.
Therefore, consider the goodness and severity of God—severity toward those who fell, but goodness toward you, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. And these also, if they do not remain in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. For if you were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, who are the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree? M342
What the second part of the two floating ribs remind me of, is sort of linked to the grafting of the branches analogy. It is the tribes Simeon and Manasseh spoken about in Revelation. The tribe Simeon was restored and Manasseh was added to form the twelve tribes or the twelve ribs or the twelve branches spoken about in Revelation 7:4-8.
Then I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred and forty-four thousand out of every tribe of the children of Israel:
Twelve thousand from the tribe of Judah were sealed,
twelve thousand from the tribe of Reuben were sealed,
twelve thousand from the tribe of Gad were sealed,
twelve thousand from the tribe of Asher were sealed,
twelve thousand from the tribe of Naphtali were sealed,
twelve thousand from the tribe of Manasseh were sealed,
twelve thousand from the tribe of Simeon were sealed,
twelve thousand from the tribe of Levi were sealed,
twelve thousand from the tribe of Issachar were sealed,
twelve thousand from the tribe of Zebulun were sealed,
twelve thousand from the tribe of Joseph were sealed,
and twelve thousand from the tribe of Benjamin were sealed.M343
From which rib was the woman formed?
To quote Paul “This is a great mystery!”
But none the less, what is important is that which is written in Galatians 3:28 and Ephesians 5:30-33
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, and there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. M344
For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. “For this reason, a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.” This is a great mystery, but I am speaking about Christ and the church. However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. M345
